  • 3D Printing Processes

Our online 3D printing service consists of six 3D printing technologies to transform your 3D files into plastic, metal, and elastomeric parts. With more than 120 3D printers, we have unmatched capabilities that reliably deliver parts within days. In addition to a broad material selection, we offer several post-processing options to improve cosmetics or enhance mechanical properties.

    Metal 3D Printing

Direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) uses a fiber laser system that draws onto a surface of atomized metal powder, welding the powder into fully dense metal parts.

    Stereolithography (SLA)

Stereolithography (SLA) uses an ultraviolet laser that draws on the surface of liquid thermoset resin to create thousands of thin layers until final parts are formed.

    Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)

Selective laser sintering (SLS) uses a CO2 laser that fuses nylon-based powder, layer by layer until final thermoplastic parts are built.

    ABS

ABS is a plastic material that’s great for mechanical strength and early-stage rough prototypes. ABS is a cost-effective material for initial prototyping applications, and with post-processing options, it can offer a better surface finish than PLA.

    Technologies: FDM, SLA, PolyJetting

Properties: Strong, light, high resolution, somewhat flexible

Applications: Architectural models, concept models, DIY projects, manufacturing

    Nylon

Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) Nylon is a synthetic 3D-printed polymer material that’s strong, durable, and flexible. MJF Nylon is typically considered more often for end-use parts and functional testing under higher loads. MJF Nylon is a cost-effective option for higher bridge production quantities because of the machine’s modular design and faster production speed.

    Technologies: FDM, SLS

Properties: Strong, smooth surface (polished), somewhat flexible, chemically resistant

Applications: Concept models, functional models, medical applications, tooling, visual arts

    PLA

PLA is a great 3D printing material for early-stage prototyping on simple geometry parts, made out of biodegradable corn starch. Because this material is relatively cheap, you can cost-effectively 3D print multiple iterations of an early-stage part design.

    Technologies: FDM, SLA, SLS

    Properties: Biodegradable, Food safe

Applications: Concept models, DIY projects, functional models, manufacturing
